Associated Terminals and Turn Services was built on, and continues to thrive off of the collaborative spirit of our team. Further, the maritime industry is uniquely characterized by the close-knit relationships and strong sense of teamwork among its members, as they collaborate closely to navigate the complexities of water commerce.
That said, we recognize that none of our success would be possible without the individual greatness of each one of our team members. Therefore, we strive to do all we can to give back to our team—whether that’s our annual scholarship, company events, or fun competitions!
This spring, we decided to create some friendly competition amongst our team by creating our first annual March Madness bracket contest with the chance to win a grand prize. While we’d love to send a team member to the NCAA Championship, we secured tickets for our team to attend the next best thing.
The winner of the bracket challenge had the chance to attend the regular season finale New Orleans Pelicans game in the Smoothie King Center. This game had high intensity, high playoff implications, and high profile stars on the court such as Zion Willamson, Bradon Ingrm, Pels alum Anthony Davis, and all-time NBA lead scorer Lebron James.
While many basketball fans entered for the chance to win and skillfully crafted their brackets, there could only be one winner, despite the unpredictable nature of March Madness.
After much anticipation, Jason Perez Jr. had come out on top of the bracket challenge, just like the Mens’ University of Connecticut basketball squad and Womens’ University of South Carolina team did in the NCAAchampionships. In this inaugural competition, Jason’s bracket had beat out the rest and he was set up with his tickets. As a hardcore Pelicans fan, Jason was ecstatic to attend the game.
When our March Madness champion was asked about his experience he said, “Associated Terminals and Turn Services always goes above and beyond for their team members and families, to create a new contest and friendly competition between colleagues to win big was so awesome and fun.”
After the game, Jason was grateful for the experience, explaining that “Associated and Turn provided me and my lifelong friend with great seats and a fun-filled afternoon where we got to witness some of the league’s greatest players go head to head in a very meaningful game.”
While Jason (and many Pelicans fans) were hoping for a better outcome of this game, he has high hopes for his own basketball prowess in making another killer bracket next year, saying “I’ll be looking to repeat as the champion again next year!”
